The 93.77- kilometer Subic- Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), named as one of the dream highways, will be permitting passage or acess to motorists without tell fee through out the duration of the whole Holy Week. The SCTEX, a new expressway thet connects the Subic Freeport to the North Luzon Expressway (NLX) in Tarlac, was inaugurate last March 18 by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The traveling time from Subic to Clark is now only 35 minutes. As the dream highways, President GMA likewise wishes to link the NLEX southwards with the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) by way of Mindanao and Commonwealth Avenues in Quezon City, and lengthen the NLEX northwards to the town of Rosario in the province of La Union by way of the towns of La Paz and Gerona in the province of Tarlac. The dream highways are expected to be fully accomplished before President GMA's term comes to an end in 2010. We hope the dream highways of the next president will be to lengthen the NLEX northwards to the province of Ilocos Norte and to lengthen the SLEX southwardsto the province of Sorsogon. In addition, we expect the SCTEX will be open to motorists for free again during the next entire Holy Week in 2009. [Via Inquirer.net] |
