First World Eco-Urban Center At Subic Bay

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority has a long-term goal of transforming the greater Subic Bay area into a First World eco-urban center in 20 years. This project is hoped to bring significant development of municipalities around the freeport. This transformation of the greater Subic Bay area will serve as a regional development center in Southeast Asia in the next 20 years, and will also serve as something that completes Clark Freeport.

The SBMA has shown different development modules that need available money from government and private sectors. These are commercial areas in downtown Olongapo and Subic Gateway District; united resorts in Olongapo, Morong, Bataan and Subic Zambales; industrial properties in Hermosa, Bataan and Castillejos, Zambales; and information technology IT parks at Tipo area in Hermosa.

The plan demands for development of a united port and logistics area; a medical city in Cobi, an education city; extra housing areas at the El Kabayo area and in Tipo; and a shipbuilding center at the Redondo Peninsula.

The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Project SCTEP, which is scheduled to open in March 2008, and Executive Order No. 675 push up the vision for eco-urban center in Subic Bay area.

We hope that this vision of SBMA for Subic Bay area as First World eco-urban center that will serve as a regional development center in Southeast Asia will have fulfillment in 2028, and we also hope that we will be still alive in 2028.
