Like a Bottle

Written by Rosalie D. Tolentino

We are like the bottle, having different hues and different sizes. We have characteristics that each of us uniquely possesses. But despite these differences, we still are bottles and that make us one. And with that, we must become one.

We are like the bottle, having different hues and different sizes. We have characteristics that each of us uniquely possesses. But despite these differences, we still are bottles and that make us one. And with that, we must become one.

Sometimes we get broken as we experience tragic events in our lives. We fall and become susceptible to be broken. Too fragile, we cry. But us we break, we take two choices. It’s either we stand and become whole again or well just stay broken and get thrown to the dumpsite of shame.

Sometimes we are like the bottle in the stall, just plain, simple, waiting for someone to carry us on, staying put in one place, doing nothing but the same, old routine. We are afraid of exploring new things as we become content with what we have or what we are today. We are afraid of going out to our shell though opportunities come our way.

Sometimes we’re like the bottle being carried by the dirty, little lad. We are stinky, we are dirty but that doesn’t mean we are trashes of the society. We become useful as to the junkman and a livelihood for the little lad. Sometimes even recycled and converted to a master piece of art. This just means that we must not judge someone by how we see him or her for the mean time. We don’t know what the future may bring. He may have the most grateful heart someday. Everyone is  given chances to change or to be what we wanted. Judging someone physically or how we see him/her doesn’t prove one’s personality.

Sometimes we’re like the bottle being thrown to a man. We hurt someone by our words, actions or even perceptions about him. But in the end, who was let lying torn in the ground? We are! With that, we must be careful in throwing words, actions, or even perceptions to someone. Remember that how we relate to others is what defines us. They become mirrors of us. So the more we hurt, the more we get hurt.

Sometimes we’re like the bottle floating on the top of the water and sometimes the one sinking at the bottom. We always take the weight of the world around us. We keep grudges, pains and heart aches in life not noticing we’re slowly sinking at the bottom. We’re stocked in the world of darkness, pains, sorrows, jealousy and hatred. But if we  just throw these weights away; we’ll manage to get on top again. The world will be a wonderful place to live in. We must learn to forgive our enemies and stop all our bad intentions. Let all the tragic events we experience serve as our stepping stones towards success. Continue living and enjoy the great opportunities life can bring.

Thanks life. It's Like a Bottle!
