The operation of 600-megawatt GN powerplants in Barangay Alas-asin, Mariveles, Bataan will help the Bataeňos save their electricity by at least P300 million a year. Governor Enrique Garcia stated that the province can also produce at least P300 million a year form the taxes of these powerplants. The GN project will also provide electricity to the Freeport Area in Bataan under chairman and administrator, lawyer Deo Custodio Garcia further explained that the GN management will supply a power rate lower by at least 10% to the residents of Bataan. With this project, the sole provider of electricity, Peninsula Electric Cooperative, expects to gain low-cost electricity starting this year. [via manilastandardtoday.com] |
