The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the province of Nueva Ecija is helping its people in promoting their own products such as fresh and processed mushrooms, sisig and tempura.

According to DTI Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Brigida Pili, the mushroom growers of this province will be the recipients of their One-Town-One Product (OTOP) program. The mushroom industry in the province has huge potential. They consider this as alternative to meat. The cooperative will sell fresh and processed mushrooms at the annual regional trade fair organized by the DTI Region 3 (DTI-R3).

Because of the viability of the cooperative’s mushroom production, a total amount of about P1 million will be given to cooperative’s mushroom production. The said amount was given by the following government and private institutions: Department of Lupao, Nueva Ecija, the Philippine Army, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Land Bank. Next week, there will be a Likha ng Central Luzon (LCL) Trade Fair to be held at SM Mega Mall, Mandaluyong City. The trade fair will showcase products from award-winning cooperative Parista Barangay, a Defense System Multi-purpose Cooperative (PBDS-MPC) of Lupao, Nueva Ecija. [via mb.com.ph]
