In terms of land area, Nueva Ecija is the largest province in Central Luzon. Zambales is runner-up, Aurora is in the third place, Tarlac is in the fourth place, Bulacan is in the fifth place, and Pampanga and Bataan are in the sixth and seventh places, respectively. In terms of population, Pampanga is the most populous in all Central Luzon provinces. Bulacan is the runner-up. Nueva Ecija is in the third place, Tarlac is in the fourth place, Zambales is in the fifth place, and Bataan and Aurora are in the sixth and seventh places, respectively. According to the statistics from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), in terms of total tax collection for the first three quarters of 2007, Pampanga is the biggest contributor to the Philippine treasury among Central Luzon provinces. Pampanga contributed approximately 30 percent of the total tax collected in Central Luzon. Bulacan contributed as runner-up. I think the total tax collection is directly proportional to population.
