The City of Balanga once more bore witness to the great devotion of Bataenos as the yearly Marian procession to close the Rosary month of October winded the streets of this great city of the north.
Young and old gathered in the plaza of Balanga to form a Living Rosary on the night of the 30th of October 2007. Led by the presbyters of the Cathedral-Parish of St. Joseph , together with the different congregations, students, and lay faithful, the City of Balanga stood in prayer before the image of the Blessed Mother as whiffs of incense rose to the highest heavens.
After the praying of the rosary, the procession commenced with the cross of Christ leading the way, symbolizing our article of faith that all of us, together with Mary, must follow the footsteps of Christ.
Where else but in Bataan could would you witness such a show of true piety. Men from all ages where not ashamed to be seen with their rosaries dangling from their hands which earlier that day held their tools of labour. The women followed the rhythm of the carozza as it trudged, assisting the Virgin like gentle sentinels. The children were either looking silently at the crowned image, or pointing it to their inays or friends as if saying; "look, there is our Mother!"
Are we to wonder why such piety exists in Bataan? In the city of Balanga? Isn’t it clear that such faith is already natural among us who posses the gem of faith as noted by the Rev. Fr. Horacio de las Costa, S.J.
Salve Regina vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve, in hac lacrimarum valle!
Hail, Queen of Bataan! Be the Morning Star of this Peninsula. |
