To restore the trees removed by the ongoing road widening project, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to plant more trees along the stretch of the MacArthur Highway in 2011.

According to Alfredo Tolentino, regional director of DPWH, planting of trees are being settled with the help of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Pamcham).

Planting more trees along the highway of MacArthur is part of the agency’s assurance to make the MacArthur Highway safe and sound and beneficial to motorists and commuters.

DPWH decided to cut some of the trees to pursue their project to transform the four-lane MacArthur Highway into an effective six-lane highway complete with drainage canals and road sign.

And to save the environment while continuing with the project, DPWH will be true to their commitment regarding the planting of trees. [via sunstar.com.ph]
