Papaya seedlings give huge success to a farmer in Palauig, Zambales as it serves as his newest money maker.Enrico Batungbakal started to accomplish success upon managing a 200- hectare farm with Red Lady papaya seedlings. Batungbakal planted less than a hectare to 1,200 papaya seedlings, where he reaps a bumper crop. He pays full attention to the growing plants and also to the handling and packaging of the fruits. The crops are appealingly packed in fruit nets and placed in individual cartons. He is selling the fruit for P45 per kilo. Batungbakal started his papaya plantation with a capital of P500,000. Expensive at the start but he said that this was recovered easily since the whole plantation could produce 100 to 200 tons. A hundred tons at the farmgate price of P35 per kilo would gross P3.5 million.
