The opening of a P115 million Modern Integrated Rice Processing and Milling Complex (MIRPMC), funded by the Korean International Corporation Agency, was celebrated at a one-hectare area in Barangay Reserva in the town of Baler in Aurora and transferred to the provincial government of Aurora last January 26.The multimillion project was discussed and arranged to allocate P41.8 million as counterpart for the land development, installation of water systems, electricity and for the first operation of the modern facility. The main attraction of the modern facility will be a state of the art drying and milling that shall produce a high-quality rice and make less income of some 13,000 farmers in the province of Aurora. The agriculture in Aurora will increase rapidly with the implementation of different projects such as the Aurora Food Basket, a multimillion program initiated at a 342-hectare zone, and a 498-hectare Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) forest in Maria Aurora. Another projects are the Mariculture parks to be developed in like manner in the municipalities of Baler and Casiguran. The MIRPMC, the first and only Korean grant in the Philippines, is hope to be successful for the betterment of Aurora. |
