Baler: The Most-Search Tourist Spot In Google

Baler, Aurora is now the most-searched items in Google. The province is known as the fastest rising local travel destination in the Philippines in 2009. According to local officials, Baler got the first rank in the list of local travel destinations. The list also included the Amana Resort in Pandi, Bulacan, Acuatico Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas, Coron Palawan, Anawangin Cove in San Antonio Zambales, El Nido in Palawan, and 8 Waves Resort and Eco Park in San Rafael, Bulacan.Baler became a tourist spot when the movie of Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales was shown in 2008. The movie had showcased the surfer’s paradise of the province. Because of the movie, major awards were achieved during the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival. The government of Baler continues to promote the province as a tourist spot by participating in different tourism-related activities which includes the North Philippines Tourism Fair where Baler won the best tourism booth for the past three years. According to Therese Lim of Google Southeast Asia, 2009 was showered with events which let Filipinos search for more information online from politics, showbiz, sports, and social networking sites.
