Last week, Paguiruan High School, a public high school in this town received Smart Communications’ high-speed wireless Internet connection called Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax). This is a type of technology that enables high-speed wireless Internet connection to a wider area. The innovation became possible in the town thru Mr. Manuel Pangilinan, chairman of Smart and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.Pres. Arroyo said, "We should thank Manny for always helping the province. Now, let's thank him again for providing Internet connection in the school thru Smart’s initiative".
The information and communication technology (ICT) is the foundation of this advancement. ICT is a tool for learning. The president stated that it’s hard to have no access to the Internet. Though there are only 11 desktop computer sets given by DepEd, what is important is to be connected to the Internet. Pangilinan, said that thru Smart Schools Program, the company had granted broadband Internet access in 272 public and private schools in the country. The program will help students to enhance their learning by the aid of internet access. [via business.inquirer.net] |
