Mayor James Gordon Jr. of Olongapo City said that Guam can take a cue from the experience of the province of Zambales in terms of hosting a US military base.

Gordon is one of the eight mayors from four provinces in the Philippines who are attending the Second Annual Pacific Mayor's Conference being held at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort and Spa.

He said that the city would like to take a major part in this effort because of their knowledge of jobs that are needed. The city had already created the Task Force Guam and will have about 8,000 manpower that will be available.

Other selected local officials from the province of Laguna, Batangas, Zambales and Bulacan will also attending the said conference to participate in an exchange program with Guam. [via]
