Friendship Bridge

Angeles City
Tuesday, 09 January 2007

The opening of the P152 million Friendship Bridge in Barangay Anonas in Angeles City in Pampanga was celebrated by President Macapagal Arroyo.

The plan was named Friendship Bridge for the reason that different government administrative divisions labored jointly to accomplish the plan fully. These different government, bases Conversion and Development Authority, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Public Works and Highways and the Office of the President.

The Angeles City government with the association of Bases Conversion and Development Authority carried out the first and second stages of the plan while the Department of Public Works and Highways supplied and put into effect the third, fourth and fifth stages of the plan.

The bridge includes the building of 240-meter-long horizontal main supporting beam made of hard and tough iron depending on drilled foundations of long slender column driven into the ground with Portland concrete firm level surface approaches involving river-intact holding works.

This bridge answers a purpose as a basic connection to Clark Special Economic Zone and other portions of Central Luzon. This is a constituent part of the access road from Manila North Road proceeding to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

The Friendship Bridge is of great help in a faster growth and development of business in Central Luzon.
