Bataan was founded as a province in 1754 by Governor General Pedro Manuel Arandia from within to the outside of territories owned by Pampanga and the corregimiento of Mariveles, while comprised Maragondon in Cavite across the Manila Bay.

The Dutch Naval Forces trying to conquer the country committed the Abucay massacre in 1647 in the town of Abucay. The greatly feared Chinese private Limahong utilized Lusong Paint on the western side of Bataan as the landing site to put in operation his invasion of Luzon. Bataan took part with the other provinces in Luzon, which rebelled against Spanish dominion, in the Philippine Revolution of 1896.

Bataan obtained the state of being generally known during the Second World War, and a place in the historical records of the world. The besieyed Filipino American soldiers courageously contested the last projecting part of a fortification until the historic “Fall of Bataan” on April 9, 1942.
