This January 2009, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that it will start the concreting of the vital 120-kilometer Baler-Casiguran Road (BCR). And this is expected to finish in 2010.

According to Engr. Elmer Dabbay, chief of DPWH Aurora Office, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has already allotted an initial amount of R50-M for the concreting of 21-kilometer section of the road from Barangay Ampere to Pimpolisan in Dipaculao town.

The contract for the project had been awarded to Northern Builders, which is classified by DPWH as triple A contractor.

The concreting of BCR is a major component of the Aurora Special Economic Zone Program which is aimed at spurring the economic growth of Aurora. [via]
