Giant Lantern Festival Scheduled in Pampanga

Oscar Rodriguez, City Mayor, has announced over the weekend its preparedness for this year’s Giant Lantern Festival (GLF). The participated barangays are: San Jose, Dolores, Sta. Lucia, Sto. Rosario, Sto. Niño San Felipe, San Juan, San Nicolas, and San Felipe.Avccording to Corito LimPanlilio, co-chairman of GLF, said that the festival will be held on December 20 and everybody may expect to see lantern makers innovative their crafts more. The city government will provide P70,000 financial assistance to each competing barangay and the remaining cost will be shouldered by the participants. They will also give a subsidy of P111,111.11 to the participating villages to defray the cost of lantern production. Last year, the winning lanterns were taken to Australia and this year, it will be taken to Tagbilaran City in the South and also to California and Brussels. [via] |
