$20 Million Venture to Put up a Heap Leaching Facility

European Nickel Plc is investing $20 million to put up a heap leaching facility in Zambales that will test the compatibility of this type of processing with Philippine Nickel ore. The facility would only be on a laboratory scale.

Heap leaching is a mining process used to extract precious metals such as nickel and copper compounds from ore.

Satellite Campus of UP Inaugurated in Baler

A satellite campus of the University of the Philippine' school of Health Sciences (UPSHS) was inaugurated which would serve four adjoining provinces.

Sen. Angara said, the extension campus is also intended to produce graduates of medicine- related courses who would fill the void caused by the lack of health professionals in the country side. The exodus of doctors, nurses and midwives to greener pastures abroad is behind the lack of health professionals in the country.
