As the global economic crisis starts since November, more than 1,400 workers in Central Luzon were retrenched. In a report in GMA news' 24 Oras, most of the affected workers came from electronics and garments industries. On the other hand, about 5,000 workers also retrenched, forced to on leave or are expecting reduction in their work hour in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA). |

Provincial Governor Joselito Mendoza said that the said project will serve as a one- stop shop for businessmen who want to jumpstart or expand their business in the province, as well as visitors and tourist who wish to shop for souvenir items including Tatal Bulakenyo Products. |

An official of Department of Tourism (DOT) said that 3.14 million tourists meant for the Philippines in 2008 and that is a 1.5% increase over 2007. With the whole world having negative and some lucky ones have zero growth, 1.5% growth is a gold medal. Aside from the DOT's marketing, the full cooperation of different sectors play a significant role in this tourism’s achievement. |

Led by City Mayor hernani Braganza of Alaminos, 10 local government units (LGUs) has formally forced ties to promote organic agriculture and signed a declaration supporting a government program that promotes the shift from conventional farming to organic farming. With the said declaration, the participants are committed to promote organic agricultural systems covering production, consumption and fair trade. Organic farming has many benefits to offer not only for our farmers, but the consumers as well. |

7107 Islands cruise, the first Filipino cruise ship company has decided to make its homeport in Subic Bay Freeport. The ship will now raise anchor from this free port and take its passengers to island destinations like Puerto Galera, Boracay and Coron. They also advertised other destinations like the islands of Ditaytayan, Malcapuya and Culion as well as the Calauit game preserve in Palawan and the Apo Reef in Mindanao. |
